PASSION for the PLANET Conflict is found around the globe, directly or indirectly touching every nation. However, unrelenting "if it bleeds it leads" TV and press coverage can leave us with a picture of the world that is much darker than reality.

The PEACE BUILDING series of interviews has two aims ...
  • highlight the efforts being made to bring an end to conflict, and celebrate the success stories
  • provide the expert insight and information necessary for us to understand the causes of conflict

  • To do this, PASSION for the PLANET has enlisted the help of INTERNATIONAL ALERT.

    PASSION for the PLANET

INTERNATIONAL ALERT is an independent peacebuilding organisation that has worked for over 20 years to lay the foundations for lasting peace and security in communities affected by violent conflict. Their multifaceted approach focuses both in and across various regions; aiming to shape policies and practices that affect peacebuilding; and helping build skills and capacity through training.

On air every week International Alert experts discuss a wide range of issues involved in successfully navigating a course towards conflict resolution. These issues will include the impact of big business, the importance of fair distribution of clean water, the effectiveness of overseas aid, and the necessity of free communication.

Interviews will also be available online.

In the interviews below, Secretary General Dan Smith discusses the progress made in Rwanda, where some of the worst attrocities of modern times occurred ...
