The PEACE BUILDING series of interviews has two aims ... To do this, PASSION for the PLANET has enlisted the help of INTERNATIONAL ALERT.
INTERNATIONAL ALERT is an independent peacebuilding organisation that has worked for over 20 years to lay the foundations for lasting peace and security in communities affected by violent conflict. Their multifaceted approach focuses both in and across various regions; aiming to shape policies and practices that affect peacebuilding; and helping build skills and capacity through training. On air every week International Alert experts discuss a wide range of issues involved in successfully navigating a course towards conflict resolution. These issues will include the impact of big business, the importance of fair distribution of clean water, the effectiveness of overseas aid, and the necessity of free communication. Interviews will also be available online. In the interviews below, Secretary General Dan Smith discusses the progress made in Rwanda, where some of the worst attrocities of modern times occurred ...
INTERNATIONAL ALERT's field work is based in Africa, South Asia, the South Caucasus, Latin America, Lebanon and the Philippines. Their thematic projects work at local, regional and international levels, focusing on cross-cutting issues critical to building sustainable peace. These include business and economy, gender, governance, aid, security and justice. International Alert is one of the world’s leading peacebuilding NGOs with more than 120 staff based in London and their 11 field offices. FIND OUT MORE |
