AND THEN THERE WERE NONE
TOURING (reviewed at RICHMOND THEATRE)

"And then there were none" was originally a novel by Agatha Christie, written in 1939. It was such a huge success that Christie was persuaded to adapt it for the stage and in 1943 rehearsals for the production started. It was during rehearsals that the ending was changed. This was probably in response to concerns about offering a more positive ending for audiences in the midst of the war that had broken out soon after the book was published. This production starring Gerald Harper goes back to Christie's original adaptation.

This is everything you'd expect from Christie, a confined and slightly claustrophobic setting, taking place over a short period of time, with a dramatic conclusion. You spend the play trying to guess who the murderer is and end up changing your mind again and again.

The cast deliver their characters beautifully and although Gerald Harper may be the biggest name the real star is this ensemble cast where each actor and character has room to shine equally.

If you like a good whodunit, you will not be disappointed with this production of "And then there were none".

AVENUE Q
NOEL COWARD THEATRE
It has got to be said, “Queue for Avenue Q” – a puppet show with attitude. The storyline is virtually unimportant and exists only to hold a number of razor sharp songs together … but they are tuneful as well as provocatively witty; “The Internet is for Porn!” “ Everyone’s a little Bit Racist” and my favourite “What do you do with a BA in English?”

The singing-puppeteers are soberly dressed in shades of grey but the puppet heads are vibrant, psychedelic and offer full-on expression!

If you’re blue the hideous orange of Kate Monster will rapidly help resolve that!!
